Green Planet Dubai: Dome, Animals & Things to Do

Date:

Green Planet Dubai is an indoor rainforest situated in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Opened in 2016 and you can reach via City Walk entertainment district in Al Wasl. The Green Planet is an indoor tropical forest created inside an origami style glass building.

For instance, inside the dome among the more than 3,000 plants and animals making up the community of the very tall artificial Kapok tree is the one that extends to the top of the dome. The one of a kind live museum almost transports people to a real rainforest in the middle of the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌desert.

Rainforest‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Dome and Animals

Green‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Planet is a big scale biomes project that has a multi level rainforest dome from the forest floor up to the canopy. The dome is a habitat for more than 3,000 plant and animal species. Among them are parrots, bats, sloths, lemurs, snakes, geckos, turtles, anteaters, and armadillos. Apart from that, the dome has a gentle rain installation, thunder sounds, and birds flying freely.

There are two specially designed areas, the “Australian Walkabout” with wallabies and the “Creatures of the Night” for nocturnal ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌animals.

Educational and Interactive Experiences

Through daily keeper talks, visitors learn how rainforest plants and animals are interdependent. Visitors may pay for an encounter session during which they can meet or feed the animals and take photos without using the flash. In the “Zookeeper for a Day” program, participants learn how to care for animals.

Seasonal‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ programs & events

With the seasons changing, a number of new themed events and experiences have been added at the park. On Environment World Day (June 2025) The Green Planet paired with a local nursery to exhibit children’s conservation-themed artwork all over the rainforest so visitors could be surrounded by kids’ ideas for a greener future.

During the 2025 holiday season the biodome was turned into a “Winter Wonderland” that included a real lit Christmas pine tree, Santa Claus appearances and a decorated with eco-friendly materials.

In addition to the ornament-making, letters to Santa, and gingerbread decorating activities, the overnight “Camping in the Rainforest” experience was also given a festive touch (weekend December tours with marshmallows, crafts, and surprise gifts).

Moreover, the park holds the popular sleepover program of Rainforest Camping that is extended through Halloween editions such as “Spooky Planet” on Oct 31–Nov 1, which consisted of a haunted rainforest scavenger hunt, pumpkin carving and face-painting around the campfire.

The seasonal offers have also been extended to the new outdoor Nature Park such as (e.g. special summer camps, Union Day activities and birthday party packages), all of which are in line with the park’s educational ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ideology.

Ticket‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Prices and Opening Hours

‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍The Green Planet Dubai is accessible all days between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. So as to have time to see everything it is recommended to give 2-3 hours for a visit. Tickets are available in advance, you can book when you need. Nevertheless, be aware that the last sale of tickets is at 5:00 PM. ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌

Ticket prices depend on the age and the status of the person. As of late 2025, the price for a general adult ticket (non resident) is approximately AED 155, while a child ticket (age 2–10) costs about AED 135. Kids under 2 years of age are free of charge. Residents of the UAE are given a discount: therefore, adult residents and children can usually purchase tickets at approximately AED 139 each (about 10% less than the tourist rate).

Getting‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ There

Green‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Planet is a place that you can go to at City Walk in Al Wasl which is close to Jumeirah. The exact location is City Walk, Al Wasl Dubai.

The bus or taxi offer a more direct way to reach there. In fact, it is very convenient to reach City Walk by bus as a number of buses have their stops near City Walk, such as the “Jumeirah Post Office” stop that is only 2 minutes by walk. Other buses (routes 14, 15, 28, 81, 93, etc.) that you can take will bring you to local stops that are 5-10 minutes walking distance away. From Dubai areas that are full of life and people, it takes approximately 15 minutes by taxi and 45–60 minutes by bus to get to City Walk.

In case you have a car, you can park in the City Walk mall parking that is right below the buildings. Green Planet visitors are entitled to 3-4 hours of free parking (with any spend in the cafe or mall). (After validation, each extra hour is about AED 20.) A limited number of parking spaces are allocated for the disabled ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌visitors.

Facilities‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ and Amenities

Garden Café

A‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ casual cafeteria style eatery inside the rainforest. The Garden Cafe is a place where you can have foods and drinks among which are coffee, light meals, and snacks. Besides, it is a plant surrounded and live animal located place, so you can eat “immersed in nature.” The eatery is with you from breakfast to dinner and is open every day (10:00 AM to 6:00 ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌PM).

JNGL Restaurant and Café

A rainforest themed restaurant with a full menu. With JNGL you are fascinated by the decorating that is animal loving and also you get a full menu with such dishes as burgers, pasta, and desserts. Its working hours are longer than Green Planet Dubai regularly from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, so you can have a meal there before or after your visit.

Tips‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ for Tourists

Best time to visit

When the park opens at 10 is its best time to be visited. The early (right after opening) and late (4–6 pm) hours are mostly less crowded. If you want to be far from school groups on weekends and holidays, then morning hours will be the best for you. Weekdays are less busy than weekends.

How long to stay

It is advised to stay 2 hours at the park. During this time, one can easily access all the different levels, see the rain effect and attend a short animal talk. The families of the children might stay 3–4 hours, especially if they take part in the encounters or workshops.

Photography

Plant and animal photography is allowed. However, flashes should not be used. In the bright exhibit spaces, the work of cameras and phones is quite good. Most of the visitors are doing the photography of the huge tree and the birds up high. Make sure that your gadgets are safe. There are a few instances where tall birds and curious monkeys have grabbed loose items!

During rain or events

Green Planet usually has a “rainstorm” every hour, which imitates tropical rain. It’s a fun surprise for the children, maybe. If thunder is heard, it’s just a part of the experience.

Buying tickets

Buying tickets online is a great time saving method. If the buying place is at the gate, then it would be a good idea to be there at least an hour before closing (last entry is 5:00 PM).

Summary

Green Planet Dubai is the closest thing to the natural world that mother natures can create inside the city. The facility provides a dream like setting for anyone longing for the tropics since it packs the greenery along with the liveliest animals on all the floors.

Such an experience can be delightful not only for children but also for their parents and all nature lovers which will certainly fall in love with the close-up encounters with a sloth, birds, reptiles, and other rainforest creatures under a huge glass dome.
